Ways to Cool Off in the Outer Banks in Summer

Enjoy Beaches Along the Outer Banks

Your Outer Banks vacation will most likely revolve around the beachWhile it can get hot during the summer months, there’s no place we’d rather be than digging our feet into the sand of Nags Head, Kitty Hawk, or Kill Devil Hills. After all, you won’t find a better time or place to soak in the natural beauty of our enchanting coastline.  With over 100 miles of open shoreline, there are so many beautiful Outer Banks beaches to choose from.

Bringing your furry friend along for vacation? Consider beaches in Duck! Duck is considered one of the most pet-friendly beaches in the US since dogs are allowed on the beach year-round.

We recommend taking plenty of water breaks during your stay. There’s nothing quite like the refreshing feeling of jumping into the Atlantic after baking in the sun. You can’t beat our stretch of beautiful shoreline.

Cruise Around Roanoke Sound

The Roanoke Sound divides Roanoke Island from the rest of the Outer Banks and is a hotspot for water activities that everyone can enjoy!

Renting a boat, kayaking, jet-skiing, fishing, and paddleboarding are just a few fun and exciting ways to cool off in the Outer Banks this summer and spend time around the Roanoke Sound. There are plenty of places on Roanoke Island and Nags Head to discover Outer Banks water sports and explore the waters of Roanoke Sound.

Visit H2OBX

If you love to mix in thrills with family time, then you need to head over to H2OBX. Located about 35 minutes north of Roanoke Island in Powell’s Point, this relatively new Outer Banks waterpark has something for everyone, allowing the entire family to cool off in the hot summer Outer Banks weather.
