Enjoy A Golf Vacation at the Top Golf Courses in the Outer Banks

05/01/2025 | by Cory McDowell | Outer Banks Attractions and Activities Outer Banks Outdoor Recreation

No two vacations in the Outer Banks are alike, even as they may have some underlying moments that are identical, including days at the beach, the golf courses, and, of course, stays in our Pirate’s Cove Realty North Carolina escapes. Today, however, we want to turn the conversation to golf in the Outer Banks. We’ve had many discussions over the years about the joys of beach life, but we fear that the golf courses aren’t receiving the full attention they deserve, and so we have created this guide to the best golf courses on the Outer Banks, encouraging you to pack your clubs for an unforgettable adventure!

Beach Courses to Make Your Dreams Come True

When you love the beach and the greens equally, we won’t make you choose between the two, instead, because the courses we offer on this list all offer views of the beaches and the waters that surround them, making this first list of the best golf courses on the Outer Banks one that will make your island dreams come true!

The Currituck Club in Corolla

Offering views of the Currituck Sound, this 18-hole semi-private course was designed by famed golf architect Rees Jones. Offering a putting green, driving range, and clinics in the summer months that will help lower your handicap and increase your love of the game, you may wonder if this is the top golf course on the Outer Banks.

Ducks Wood Country Club in Southern Shores

Ducks Wood Country Club is a private course that allows visitors to play at tourist rates when tee times are available. The course wanders gently through a landscape that was carved from the Outer Banks, offering views of canals, maritime forests, and natural wetlands. Designed by Ellis Maples, this course is definitely one of the best Outer Banks golf courses.

Sea Scape Golf Links in Kitty Hawk

Many of the holes of Sea Scape Golf Links offer views of the Atlantic Ocean, windswept sand dunes, and maritime forests, making it a top contender for the top golf course on the Outer Banks. Designed by Art Wall, it is a course that is designed in the Scottish style, bringing the game back to its roots.

Nags Head Golf Links in Nags Head

Designed by Bob Moore, Nags Head Golf Links is another Scottish-style championship course truly deserving of the title of best course on the Outer Banks. Offering views of Roanoke Sound, your game can be more than a little challenging due to the winds that sweep across the course, but we think a cold one sipped at the Links Grille as the sun sets over the Sound will make you forget all about your woes.

Did We Name Your Favorite?

To be perfectly honest, we believe that all the courses listed should be considered the top courses on the Outer Banks, so please don’t make us choose just one! Where we can come to a quick and firm decision, however, is that our Pirate’s Cove Realty escapes do offer the best spaces in which to relax and luxuriate after your clubs are put away for the night. Reserve your favorite escape today!
